About This Project

Bus stop analysis and shelter design for City of Claremont prioritizing access and comfort for transit users. Synthesizing infrastructure and public art, climate-specific shelters are optimized for maximizing shade and air movement. The series of shelters accommodates solar orientation, ridership capacity, and other bus stop site-specific constraints while taking inspiration from the undulating forms of the San Gabriel foothills, the work of important local artist Karl Benjamin, and the dappled light of coastal oak tree canopies. The project’s color palette recalls the trains of the historic Pacific Electric Railway and the vibrant local flora.
