A renovation and addition to a single family home on tree-filled suburban site. A new Entrance and study as well as remodeled Kitchen and Master Bathroom.
A cube is inserted to mark entrance, creating space for a new study above while a larger, glazed cube form allows natural light into the foyer below, reflecting off the surfaces and enlivening the entry sequence and ascension up to the second floor.
Simple materials are manipulated to juxtapose the rigorous rectilinear geometries of the interior space with the curvilinear form of an indeterminate indoor-outdoor space. At the entry level, curved forms and clear glass create ambiguous spatial conditions and provide the landscape access to the home. Simple, clearly articulated volumes and materials shape and direct light and circulation on the second floor.
