About This Project

A residential addition to a single family house in West Los Angeles that includes a new kitchen, master suite, living room, and entertainment center. The integration of the addition with the existing bungalow was accomplished through form and movement. A new cubic volume adjacent to the existing bungalow is transformed by refracting the design logics of that existing structure. Movement is choreographed by the location and shape of windows and skylights that are also oriented to mediate light, views, and air. The manipulation of daylight throughout the day activates the interior spaces by revealing a composition of figure, material, and activity.
